The Matronen are the Rhineland mother goddesses of Germanic and Celtic religions. Over 800 votive stones attest to their historical popularity. They represent three generations of women: Maiden (white), Mother (red), and Wise Woman (black). Before the rise of monotheism, goddess trinities were widespread. The Matronen symbolize the cyclical nature of nature and the universe, connecting opposites like beginning, middle, and end. They represent an unbreakable cycle of death, rebirth, and eternal life.
